Oh The Little Things...

Have you ever struggled with the meaning behind things? Say for instance, a book. You're reading a book and your teacher tells you to figure out what a particular sentence or paragraph means. You go through all sorts of possible meanings and then you compare and contrast them to see which ones seem to be the right one, when the whole time you are doing that the actual meaning is in the sentence itself.

Something can NOT mean what it was not supposed to mean. I mean, am I right? That's what the word context is for right? "Don't take things out of context." Makes sense to me.

Then why do people insist on asking, "What does this verse mean to you?" What does it matter what the verse means to me? It should only matter what the verse meant to the original hearer right? Yeah, I think so too.

That's just been getting to me as of late. I've been trying to get deeper into God's Word lately and that's a road bump that I seem to constantly be running into. No matter how many times I reverse and try to drive around it. It always pops up out of nowhere.

Frustrating. Completely and utterly frustrating.
